About "Amber Grains of Wave"

These selections are from a series of live solo improvisations with software instruments and processes I designed using Pd (a.k.a. Pure Data), a Free Open Source real-time graphical programming environment for music, video and graphics.

"Amber Grains..." is a collection of studies with my Pd instrument "polygrainsynth", incorporating granular synthesis techniques into the mix of subtractive/FM sounds provided by an earlier instrument called "polywavesynth". Low pass and comb filtering, and occasional touches of reverb are the only additional processing (and that's all live, too).
